C NEWS: The Carbon Tax is destroying Qantas and Australian industries

"The best assistance the Government and the Opposition can provide is the removal of the Carbon Tax which has cost this industry (airlines) hundreds of millions of dollars." says Virgin Australia's CEO John Borghetti.

That's Virgin Australia's boss talking about the destructive effect of the Carbon Tax on businesses. Qantas's half yearly loss of $235 million is about half due to the Carbon Tax.

Yet we have some foolish CEOs like BHP's Andrew MacKenzie and Chairman Jac Nasser, supporting the global pricing of carbon!!! As a former geologist MacKenzie should know better but being a Scotsman there is probably no hope for him. This has put me off owning BHP shares until there is a change of management and common sense at board level prevails. Also it does no help matters having Christine Lagarde, MD of the IMF, promoting the climate change hoax but then she is an economist with little understanding of geology. She is forgiven.

Australia, like our icon airline Qantas, will continue to go down hill economically until the Carbon Tax has been eliminated, together with all the Renewable Energy Target (RET)legislation which like a spider web entangles all our businesses unnecessarily. When this is done we can look forward to a prosperous future.

Where to South Australia? We have to wait for the Fed's New Energy Policy

South Australia has its State Election next month, on the 15th March. We have had 12 years of Labor Government mismanagement with Premiers Mike Rann and now Jay Weatherill. Its high time we had a Liberal Government and so followed new policies to achieve a more prosperous future for all, and not just trade unionists.

Little has been said in electioneering about how this new prosperity can be delivered. We are still reeling from the announcement that General Motors Holden will be gone by 2017 and there will be no more car manufacturing in the State. Earlier BHP decided not to expand the uranium mine at Roxby Downs, to make it the world's largest, due to low metal prices and their predicted future world financial situation. There are now more businesses closing down and shedding workers than there are, if any, starting up. So it's batten down the hatches and hope for the best.

There is little a new Liberal Government can do about the energy situation (except STOP any more wind farms) Our domestic electricity price (31 cents/kWhr) is more that double that of the USA and Canada and exceeded only by Germany and Denmark. This is a ridiculous situation and represents more than a 100% price increase in a decade, mainly due to former Premier Mike Rann's promotion of South Australia as leading the way with renewable energy (wind and solar), thereby preventing the world from cataclysmic global warming. The State Government and councils are still lumbered with this eco-religious nonsense which is not even mentioned in the lead up to the state election. The Liberal pollies are too scared to do so and possibly loose votes, and the Labor pollies wont mention it because they don't realize how stupid they have been to swallow all the warmist bunkum.

In July when Australia gets the new Federal Senate, which is more favorable to the Coalition, it should be possible to rescind Labor's Carbon Tax bill and so remove one lot of chains that are holding back development and investment in industry, agriculture and tourism. Next the Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation will have to go (now under review) since it is based on the bunkum that atmospheric CO2 is a pollutant, which it definitely is NOT. So by the end of this year 2014, the economy will be moving ahead in the right direction and the new Liberal Government of South Australia with Steven Marshall as Premier, will be able enact new policies, including a new Energy Policy, that will see sensible development of our coal, gas and uranium resources, and the down grading of useless wind farms and pie-in-the-sky large solar and geothermal plants. A NEW DIRECTION TO PROSPERITY IS NEEDED.

Coalition's Paid Parental Leave Scheme is unaffordable & unnecessary

The Coalition's proposed Paid Parental Leave Scheme is unfair to those mothers not in the well-paid work force. Labor's parental leave scheme at 18 weeks on the minimum wage PLUS whatever the employer provides is adequate attendance to this problem, in view of the present parlous state of the economy.

The idea that the Coalition's scheme is fully funded is semantic bunkum. The proposal is to charge a levy (= tax increase) of 1.5% on profits of companies that have more than $5 million taxable income! They say this will be offset by the Coalition's proposed 1.5 % company tax cut. What a load of semantic BS! First priority of Government must be to hold or cut expenditures AND devise NO MORE NEW taxes, and get rid of the existing CARBON and MINING taxes. Working within these restrictions the Federal Government may have a chance of turning the economy around from the disaster its heading for. Saying that productivity will be increased is just pie-in-the sky dreaming typical of trade unions.

The large companies subject to the proposed levy are quite capable (and do) devise their own parental leave scheme tailored to their circumstances. There is no need for the Government to interfere in this matter, extending the nanny state into unknown and expensive territory.

Australia gets set to repeal Labor's Carbon Tax in the Senate

What a wonderful element is CARBON. How dare the ex-Labor Government tax "carbon", or what they really mean is "emissions of carbon dioxide". This week the Coalition will introduce to the Senate their Carbon Tax Repeal Bill to abolish this stupid legislation and hopefully Australia will return a tad to the way we were before ex-PMs Rudd and Julia came on the scene. We've got rid of them, so now let's get rid of their eco-religious bunkum.

Carbon is the most wonderful element in the Periodic Table. It forms more compounds than ALL the other elements put together, i.e., it makes up the subject of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, which really makes the world go round. Methane or CH4 is a major fossil fuel in Australia, for domestic use and export. Oil is composed of more complex hydrocarbons which is the source of fuels for our cars, trucks, trains, ships and airplanes. When these fuels are burnt then CO2 and H2O are released to the atmosphere, and these molecules are entirely beneficial to mankind and the biosphere.

Both carbon dioxide and water are essential for plant growth, for crops and forests. It is madness for politicians to restrict "greenhouse gas emissions" to the atmosphere. We DO NOT WANT a low carbon economy, which equates with poverty, like as in past primitive societies. Let's see some sense in the Federal Senate this coming week. Merry Xmas from Allano

What must be done to establish a prosperous future for Australia

The new Coalition Government of PM Tony Abbott must repeal the Carbon Tax legislation ASAP and then ALL related taxes, regulations and charges involving carbon dioxide which is falsely listed as an atmospheric pollutant. The details of how to do this are set out by Viv Forbes on the Climate Sceptics Blog Hopefully, this coming week of the first sitting of the new Parliament we will see progress being made. California further on the skids

How not to have a prosperous state! Alan Caruba spells out the economic follies of California in his blog "facts not fantasy" Because of restrictive Green policies the cost of doing business in California is 30% higher than in neighboring states. Business and workers are leaving for more prosperous regions of the USA. The Green CA Government are planning to have 33% of the state's energy coming from wind and solar at a cost of $114 billion! This is even crazier than the UK and David Cameron's energy policy.

We are fortunate in Australia to at last have a sensible conservative Coalition Government with Tony Abbott as Prime Minister. Only 50 days have gone and Labor/Green policies are now on the chopping board. The carbon tax and mining tax (super profits) are top priority to be abolished. Already the Climate Change Department has been given the "heave-ho" and good riddance to them. Watch this space for more good news.

When the economy is stuffed up, such as it is in most Western democracies, the lefty politicians and the media tell us we are going through a period of "Negative Growth" which they will remedy by "Quantitative Easing" This translates to making the economy worse by the Fed printing fake money. Buzz words abound in the eco-religious world of carbon emissions q.v.

"CARBON" = CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS are our friend and must be cherished and put to good use. The idea of the need to head to a low-carbon economy is just eco-religious bunkum and must be ignored.

In Australia, we don't have to follow, like lemmings, the socialists of the EU over the cliff to economic failure. Last century was plagued with two European wars which we won, yet we have not learnt our lesson, and that is to ignore/quarantine all the political/eco-religious bunkum that originates from the European, EU region. Let them stew in their own stupidity and so not spread their false ideology around the world.

Australians (and Americans)must not be blind and gullible followers of those fraudsters out to rip off the system, be it in banking or energy production, doing it in the name of promoting renewable energy no matter what the cost, in order to "Save the Earth", so they say. Their ideology is contiguous with specially designed and deceptive GREEN BUZZ WORDS which are used all the time to conceal the truth and confuse the layman. It all started with "global warming" then it progressed to:

All of these double banger GREEN BUZZ WORDS are designed to confuse the issue and deceive the public. Even "gay marriage" ! the homosexuals have already buggared up the meaning of the formerly respectable word "gay", so at least let's keep meaning of the word "marriage" the way it has always been, i.e., the special legal relationship between a man and a woman... is that too much to ask for?

"Carbon sequestration" never really got off the ground because hardly anybody understood what sequester meant (=to seclude or set aside). The idea of burying underground all the CO2 emissions from a coal-fired power station could only be viewed with enthusiasm by a demented Greens supporter.

Ever tried to buy wind from a "wind farm"? A more accurate name for a collection of wind turbines is a WIND SCAM.

QE, or quantitative easing,is a favorite buzz word of lefty economists used to white-wash the Fed printing of fake money.

"Ocean acidification" is another Buzz Word, like "global warming", that is used to scare people. Rising atmosphere CO2 levels is said to raise the CO2 level in sea water making it acid, which will cause our Great Barrier Reef to dissolve up and ruin our tourist industry. Big Scare!!! Actually, it is all bunkum. Sea water is the world's largest buffer solution and has high dissolved Na and Ca. The pH is remarkably stable at an ALKALINE value of 8.1 so there is no risk of it becoming acid (except at an undersea volcanic vent).

In Australia the Federal Labor Government of PM Julia has recently enacted a ridiculous CARBON TAX at $23/tonne of Carbon emissions, which is total insanity. Federal Labor exists on another planet and actually believe all the mind-contracted eco-religious bunkum that is promoted by the Greens and EU pollies and the United Nations. All of these ideas and derived policies should be tossed in the garbage. One reason being that it is all a great insult to the wonderful element CARBON, which is vital for all life forms, and it makes more compounds than together ALL the other elements in the Periodic Table. How dare they demonize CARBON!

In Australia, the first thing to do is to vote out of existence this awful and dangerous Federal Government of PM Julia & her ignorant eco-followers especially Combet, Wong, Swan, Burke, Emerson et al. Then will come the task of the Coalition to repair all the economic damage they have done.

Labor's Toxic Carbon Tax is Crazy; based on Lies and is Just Blatant Thievery

On the 1st of July this incompetent Labor Government of PM Julia brings in a Carbon Tax on some 500 businesses (the so called big polluters) of $23 per ton of CO2 emitted!!!How ridiculous can you get???

I am still hopeful that this awful lying Labor Government will be tossed out on its ear before the end of this June month, probably never to return for ages.

How dare this Labor Government deliberately demonize the element CARBON which is the most wonderful element in the Periodic Table. Carbon is the basis of all life on Earth and forms more compounds than all the other elements put together. The Biosphere is made of CARBON and carbon dioxide is used by plants, crops and trees to build their structures. If atmospheric CO2 levels drop below 200 ppm our plants will die out. Currently atmospheric CO2 is at about 388 ppm and exhibits a few ppm increase annually. We need MORE CO2 in the atmosphere, not less. Plant hot houses, submarines and space craft regularly have atmospheres with 1000 ppm CO2 or more, to their advantage.

The idea promoted by some Western World Governments that we must move rapidly to a low carbon economy and so reduce our emissions of CO2 is just bunkum. There is no need for this move as our coal and gas resources are plentiful. Also the idea that CO2 emissions by man are causing climate change of worrying proportions is also a nonsense.

The way out of the present economic/financial malaise of Europe and the US (also Oz) is to remove ALL legislation that is based on the lie that the element CARBON is the bad guy and atmospheric CO2 must be reduced. Some wise countries are already starting to do this. In Australia we have made a start in Queensland after the last state election when we tossed out the Labor Government. We need a Churchillian effort to stifle the influence of these people whose aim it is to destroy our future prosperity, viz Labor, Greens and some Independents. Go to it. Allano

Adios Bob Brown , the Leader of the Green Party in Australia

Bob Brown, the leader of the Australian Green Party is retiring from politics. I wish him a long and enjoyable retirement. The Deputy Leader, Christine Milne, is appointed the new leader. She will find it a difficult job maintaining the present momentum of the Greens which hold the balance of power between Labor and the Coalition. Nationally the Greens poll about 12%. I predict this will slump to 8% by years' end.

Madame Milne says she will devote her leadership to assisting the transition of Australia to a low carbon economy. Thanks for nothing! In my view, a low carbon economy = poverty, whereas a high carbon economy = prosperity. The idea that we must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases to prevent climate change/global warming is bunkum. It is the biggest psuedo-scientific scam ever propagated.

Labors' carbon tax legislation comes into effect on the 1st of July. I am hoping there will be a successful vote of no confidence in PM Julia's awful Labor Government before then!

No Need to Decarbonize the World Economy

I have been pushing this view for many years explaining that CO2 is NOT a pollutant but is a beneficial component of our atmosphere. Now the Wall Street Journal has published an article (27th Jan 2012) signed by 16 scientists entitled "No Need to Panic About Global Warming" which unveils the bunkum associated with global warming alarmism, which is followed by PM Julia in Australia and by Obama. Maybe this is to help the GOP selection for US Presidential election?

Here is what is said about CO2: (quote from Wall St Journal)
"The fact is that CO2 is not a pollutant. CO2 is a colorless and odorless gas, exhaled at high concentrations by each of us, and a key component of the biosphere's life cycle. Plants do so much better with more CO2 that greenhouse operators often increase the CO2 concentrations by factors of three or four to get better growth. This is no surprise since plants and animals evolved when CO2 concentrations were about 10 times larger than they are today. Better plant varieties, chemical fertilizers and agricultural management contributed to the great increase in agricultural yields of the past century, but part of the increase almost certainly came from additional CO2 in the atmosphere."
